Rustford Bomber Jacket
Lake Superior doesn't do gentle transitions. The North Shore moves from August sunshine to a raw October gale in the span of an afternoon, and the jacket you reach for needs to move with it.
The Rustford is Alan Paine's answer to that problem. The 50% linen, 48% cotton blend is the detail that matters up here — linen breathes through the warm end of the shoulder season, while the cotton weight gives it enough body to cut the lake wind when the temperature drops. Two percent elastane means the structured bomber silhouette moves with you rather than against you.
The construction reflects what you'd expect from a British heritage brand still making things the right way. Corozo buttons — harvested from South American tagua palm rather than plastic — sit alongside a clean centre-front zip. Ribbed hem and cuffs keep the fit honest in a breeze. It's machine washable, which matters when you're actually wearing something.
The navy carries effortlessly from a Saturday on the Lakewalk — chinos, a heavier knit underneath — to a dinner that calls for something a step above casual. Tailored trousers, a dress shirt, the Rustford over the top. Done.
Made in the UK. Built to last longer than the season you bought it for.
